Bromborough

777034, Merseyrail Wirral Line Chester to Liverpool Central, departing from Bromborough at 11.33 on Wednesday, 30th April 2025. The line here was opened by the Chester and Birkenhead Railway on 23rd September 1840 but this station did not open until the following year. The line was originally quadruple track here with the platform on the right the surviving side of an island. The lifted tracks were used by the London Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside service that was withdrawn in March 1967 and thereafter a shuttle service of diesel trains from Chester to Woodside (cut back to Rock Ferry in November 1967 when Woodside closed) and remained in use until Merseyrail electrification was extended from Rock Ferry to Hooton on 30th September 1985.
