Walthamstow Queen's Road, looking east on the afternoon of Thursday, 25th April 2024. It was originally called simply Walthamstow when it opened with the Tottenham & Forest Gate Railway (from South Tottenham to Woodgrange Park) on 9th July 1894, a relative latecomer. It became Walthamstow Queen's Road in 1968 when Hoe Street, on the Liverpool Street to Chingford line was renamed Walthamstow Central, when it became the terminus of the LU Victoria Line. The original wooden buildings and canopies here were torn down after the line was saved from the Beeching cuts. Today, all that remains of the 1894 station are the walls and stanchions below the footbridge.
