Puerto Montt was at the end of a long line from Santiago. It closed many years ago and a recent attempt at revival was unsuccessful. However, on the town's waterfront are two preserved steam locos and a rail mounted crane. Photos I have seen show them in black livery with white lining but for 2024 we have this paint scheme. This 2-6-0 is Chilean built from 1913, presumably under licence as it is to the same design as a class of North British locomotives that were already in the fleet. The British lines still shine through the garish paintwork.
