Kings Cross

E 3137 'Peter Pan' at King's Cross, waiting to depart at 06.00 with The Railway Touring Company's railtour to Whitby, steam hauled from York, at 05.38 on Wednesday, 20th March 2024. This is one of the hundred AL6 (later Class 86) locomotives built by BR at Doncaster from 1965. It entered service in January 1966 as E3137, becoming 86045 in January 1974 and then 86259 in May 1975. Withdrawn in 2003 and stored for 16 months, after restoration it began its new life in preservation in 2008. On 2nd March 2019, it completed 50,000 miles of running in preservation.
