Hindley

This is Deep Pit footbridge, just to the west of Hindley station, and in September 2023 it became a Grade II listed building. It was built for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1887 for the widening of the line. At one time this unusually long wrought and cast iron structure spanned nine tracks. A Wigan to Leeds Class 158 passes underneath, slowing for the Hindley stop, on 10th January 2024.
