Crouch End

The remains of Crouch End station on the ex-GNR 'Northern Heights' lines, and now the Parkland Walk, looking towards Alexandra Palace in the snow on 2nd December 2010. The bus crossing on Crouch End Hill bridge in the background, where the station entrance once stood, is a DLA type on TfL route 41, en route from Tottenham Hale to Archway. The platforms were adjusted to tube train height as it was intended to convert the line into a branch of the LUL Northern Line but World War 2 halted the work. It was not resumed after 1945 and the line closed in 1954, wasting over £1 million that had been spent on the project that was almost completed by 1939.
