New Brighton

As it was over fifty years ago. The driver of the Class 503 EMU is sitting in the sun at New Brighton before departure to Liverpool Central. When the single track Loop Line was constructed under the city these elderly units were fitted with a central emergency escape door at the front of each cab, which they ran with until replaced by the Class 507 EMUs. New Brighton station is little changed today, and now another generation of EMUs is being introduced.
