Hornchurch
View from LU S7 stock calling at Hornchurch station, Essex, two stops into its long District Line journey from Upminster to Ealing Broadway, at 13.59 on Tuesday, 24th October 2023. Behind the fence are the disused ex-LTSR platforms that were abandoned in 1962 when the Southend line was electrified, as were those at Dagenham East and Becontree, allowing these trains to run fast between Upminster and Barking while handing over all the local traffic between the two to London Transport. The eastbound Southend line platform was an island with the westbound District Line.
