Newhaven Marine

View from preserved 1957 Hastings Thumper unit at the Brett Aggregates Terminal at the end of the freight spur from Newhaven Harbour on the Seaford branch, at 16.08 on Saturday, 12th August 2023. Brett Aggregates is an independant producer of sand and gravel and this site is a recent addition to the business, completed in May 2020 with the first train arriving for loading a month later. Since then, over 500 trains have been loaded at this site moving over half a million tonnes of marine dredged aggregate to various railheads and customers in and around London. (I am grateful to the UK Railtours guide book for this information.)
