Plaistow Shed

Plaistow shed, London, had recently closed, but several locos, mainly 2-6-4 tanks, were still to be found when I visited on 24 June 1962. Deep in the actual shed was this little gem, 0-6-2 T No 41981, the last original non-preserved LT&S loco. MP adds: This locomotive actually has a very strong Scottish association, it was ordered from Dubs in 1903 as number 4469, but actually turned out as NBL 15751 in 1903, after the 'Combine' formed. At the time of its withdrawal from service (June 1962) it was the oldest surviving NBL built loco on BR.
