Killorglin

A memorial board commemorates the former station site at Killorglin which lay behind the board and has long since been swept away. Killorglin is the largest town on the branch from Farranfore to Valencia Harbour and the substantial station here had a train shed. The line from Farranfore opened as far as Killorglin in January 1885 with the remaining section south westwards to Valencia Harbour opening in 1893. Closure came in early 1960 with track lifting completed by August 1962.
