Gillingham Dorset
Gillingham (Dorset) signal box, looking west from the station during The Railway Touring Company's 'The End of Southern Steam' railtour, calling and being held here for a South Western service to Waterloo to arrive and clear the single line, on Sunday, 9th July 2023. Had the line not been singled in the 1960s (and some sections have since been re-doubled at great cost like the 'dynamic loop' at Axminster), this wait would not have been necessary.
