Westferry

DLR unit 27, to Woolwich Arsenal, on the former London & Blackwall Railway viaduct between Limehouse and Westferry, seen from train heading to Bank, on 27th April 2019. This viaduct opened for the L&BR in 1840 and was last used by passenger trains to the original Blackwall station in 1926 but remained open for freight until 1962. It stood disused for a quarter century before it was used for one of the first sections of the DLR in 1987. The viaduct is now a Grade 1 Listed Structure. Alas, the new flats on the right have completely obscured the viaduct from the adjacent Commercial Road which used to be one of the best vantage points for seeing DLR trains crossing Limehouse Basin.
