Hainault

LU roundel at Hainault station, on the Central Line in Essex, on Saturday, 1st July 2023. This station was opened by the GER on 1st May 1903 with what was then called the Fairlop Loop between Woodford and Ilford but was closed in 1908. The LNER reopened the station in 1930 to serve a new LCC housing estate and it was first served by tube trains on 31st May 1948 when these were extended here from Newbury Park after the section of the loop from there to Ilford had been abandoned, tube trains reaching Newbury Park via a new tunnel section from Leytonstone on the Epping line, that had opened on 14th December 1947.
