Fairlop
Interior of LU 1992 stock, Central Line to Ealing Broadway, just departed from Fairlop, lightly-loaded, on Saturday, 1st July 2023. The GER opened the Woodford to Ilford line in 1903 but this failed to further suburban development in the fields east of London and even today, 75 years after most of the Loop became part of the London Underground, there is still plenty of countryside around the line at this point, even though this part of Essex is now included in Greater east London. Nearby is Hainault Forest, where many happy family summer Sundays were spent when I was a boy, living as we did in Loughton, a 20 minutes car drive away.
