Montrose

A Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen service heads north from Montrose. The North British line crosses over the older Aberdeen Railway branch from Dubton to Montrose here (this portion closed in 1963). Somehow the redundant bridge has survived. Possibly a connection could be made here in the future between the preserved Caledonian Railway to Brechin and the railway network, although about half of the line from Dubton has been ploughed out. (There are other challenges such as houses on the trackbed at Dubton and a long ploughed out section west of Dubton.)
