Halesworth

Halesworth southbound platform, seen from the ex-10.16 Greater Anglia East Suffolk Line service from Ipswich to Lowestoft calling at the northbound on 3rd May 2023. This was the junction for the Southwold narrow gauge railway that opened in 1879 and lasted only 50 years until 1929. The retained double-track section of the East Suffolk Line from Saxmundham ends just north of Halesworth station, from which it is now single all the way to Lowestoft although a passing loop was restored at Beccles station in 2012.
