South Esk Viaduct [Bridge of Dun]

The Strathmore main line crossed over the River South Esk about half a mile south west of Bridge of Dun station. The bridge was unusual having four piers on one alignment (north end of bridge) and a second set of three piers on a different alignment. The deck was removed after closure and a footbridge fitted. This too has been partly removed and fenced off for safety. Fortunately for walkers the Bridge of Dun itself is not far away. This view looks west towards Brechin.
