Lamington Viaduct
A storm named Frank. Storm damage to the central pier of Lamington Viaduct resulted in emergency closure of the WCML here on New Years Eve 2015. This is the scene mid morning on 2 January, by which time Network Rail engineering staff had arrived in force. The gentleman in the foreground is on his way back to join colleagues after carrying out a series of remote electronic measurements from the B7055 road bridge (from which the photograph was taken). Major remedial work was required, resulting in the WCML remaining closed until 22 February 2016.
