Newhaven Harbour

View from 313211 with a Southern service from Brighton to Seaford departing from Newhaven Harbour, on 15th April 2023 and about to diverge east onto the now-single line section to Seaford. On the branch to the docks a third station, Newhaven Marine, was situated. This opened in 1886 for ferry sailings to Dieppe but declined after the opening of the Channel Tunnel in 1994, although it was not until August 2006 that the service was suspended. Marine station was demolished in May 2019 with official closure occurring on 22nd October 2020. The branch is still open to the freight terminal. This side of the Harbour station is in better condition than the original 1847 station building on the opposite platform that is completely derelict.
