Kentish Town

View from 700113, on Thameslink service to Three Bridges, approaching Kentish Town (passed non-stop) on 10th March 2023. The curved retaining wall follows the alignment of the now abandoned eastern spur of a triangle that led up to what is now the London Overground GOBLIN line and was last used by passenger trains in 1981 when the service from Barking was diverted to Gospel Oak, long before the line became part of the Overground. This is one short section of disused railway in London that I have actually travelled on, decades ago and long before the Overground was ever thought of. (The west side of the triangle is still in tact and used for freight trains, see my photo image no. 84293.)
