Derby

A concise history of transport in Derby: the flyover at the top is a recently built road access to the North end of Pride Park, the former Midland Railway Main Works. It crosses the Midland main line, where a class 170 is minding its own business heading south. Underneath the railway (which I hope has adequate clearance under the flyover for OHLE) is the former North Road entrance to the Works; which used the bed of the Derby Canal, closed in 1964 after having no commercial traffic for 18 years. Notice the raised towpath on the left.
