Meigle Upper Junction

This is the site of a long gone station on the Strathmore main line in a view looking east. Meigle Upper Junction was an interchange station, about half a mile east of Alyth Junction, between the Strathmore main line and curve which ran to Newtyle (formerly the course of the Newtyle and Glammiss Railway). The station had two platforms on the main line, the westbound being an island with a second face for the Newtyle curve. In this view the eastbound platform was on the left and island platform to the right. Exchange sidings, headshunts, were to the east of the station. It was replaced in 1868 by with the opening of the Newtyle Deviation and its flyover line to Alyth Junction.
