Outwood Viaduct

Just to the south of the site of Radcliffe Bridge station, on the former Radcliffe North Junction to Clifton Junction line, is the Outwood Viaduct over the River Irwell. The line closed in 1966 and the bridge was derelict and unsafe for many years but in 1999 was restored to form part of the Outwood Trail from here down towards Clifton Junction. When the line opened in 1846 this was a timber structure but was converted to cast iron in 1881 and is now Grade II listed.
