Warrington Arpley

Looking west towards the Arpley Bridge over the Mersey at Warrington in February 2023. Immediately beyond the bridge is the site of Warrington Arpley station, which closed to passengers in 1958. Goods facilities lasted until 1965 and the building on the far left of the picture is the surviving railway goods station offices. Rail traffic here is much reduced since Fiddlers Ferry power station closed but a few trains from Halewood and Tuebrook still use the line from Ditton Junction and reverse here to access Arpley Yard alongside the WCML.
