Conway Park

508111 briefly sees daylight as it calls at Conway Park, in the centre of Birkenhead, heading for Liverpool on 1st February 2023. The station opened in 1998, built by excavating a box downwards and opening out the roof of the tunnel, which is 59 feet below ground level. It contrasts with many other Wirral line stations, which were rebuilt in the 1930s for electrification. The tunnel was built by the Mersey Railway in the 1880s and runs all the way from Liverpool, under the Mersey, and out to Birkenhead Park.
