Perth

A4 60006 'Sir Ralph Wedgewood' is seen at Perth from the St Leonards Bridge on an Aberdeen to Glasgow train in 1965. The A4 hauled expresses were withdrawn from the route the following year. The Strathmore main line ceased to be a through route in 1967, as John Thomas commented 'And so the big valley which had heard the crackle of the Drummonds and Lambies and the purposeful purr of the Gresley Pacifics fell silent except for the occasional putter of a slow-moving diesel with a string of wagons on its tail.' Even that was to end, in 1982.
