Morningside Incline Signal Box

The Costain branch is seen in this view south west towards Garriongill Junction overlooking the foot of the Morningside Incline. There was a signal box on the left where the line formerly widened - it had been double track until not long before the photograph was taken in late 1987. Historically there were more lines and a siding for runaways on the right. In the distance the bowstring bridge carried the Wishaw Deviation over the Wishaw and Coltness. The incline ran uphill behind the camera to Stirling Road.
