Ardrishaig

'HMS Example' is an Archer Class patrol and training vessel attached to the University Royal Naval Unit and based at HMS Calliope at Gateshead to serve the north-east universities. Normally to be seen moored on the River Tyne between deployments it presented an unusual sight on the Crinan Canal at Easter 2006. It is interesting to reflect whether any of the students on board thought their potential naval career would ever involve a transit of the 'World's most beautiful short cut'.
