Loughborough Junction

View from the surviving island platform at Loughborough Junction, towards the disused platforms on the Cambria Road spur to the South London Line, still passed through by Thameslink trains, on 10th December 2022. These derelict platforms have survived almost a century since closing in 1925 when the Southern electrified the lines. The platforms were not able to be lengthened and so, in a display of good thinking, were closed instead.
