Wigan North Western

This bridge, just to the south of Wigan North Western, carries the LNWR lines over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. In this October 2022 view the narrow buttresses of the original North Union Railway bridge can just be seen, standing proud of the later structures that have grown either side to form this huge girder bridge. Also visible, just above the canal lock, is the L&YR bridge that still carries the line to Hindley.
