James Watt Dock

An aerial view of the James Watt Dock, Greenock, showing its future assured with its new use as the James Watt Dock Marina. The rail served quays were served by reversal, from sidings behind the camera, the Caledonian dropping down from Ladyburn Yard and the Glasgow and South Western from Cartsburn Junction to reach the dock. In the background several vessels await attention at the Garvel Dock, distant right. The magnificent Arrol crane once fitted vessels with engines, often from the nearby Kincaid works.
