Ashton Swing Bridge (Preston)

L&YR 0-4-0ST No.19 was sold into industry in 1931 as LMS 11243 and never carried a BR number. It was a static exhibit at the Ribble Steam Railway for many years 23456, and in fact has never steamed since being preserved out of industrial service in 1967. However, the L&YR Trust funded a restoration at the East Lancashire Railway that led to a return to steam in 2022. The little 'Pug' has been back at the RSR operating trains in September 2022 and will run on both days of their October Steam Gala. It has featured in some period cameo photo shoots at the ELR (See image 81467) but these are not as easy on the Preston Dock branch. However, it still made a fine sight, and sound, crossing the Swing Bridge working RSR services.
