Ballineen and Enniskean

The substantial former station building, and station master's house, at Ballineen & Enniskean between Clonakilty Junction and Dunmanway. The building is now abandoned although it seems to have seen service as a community facility. This station opened in 1891 to replace previous separate stations in Enniskean and Ballineen villages which were open from 1866 to 1891. This consolidation with a reasonably centrally located station certainly made sense given the two villages have expanded to join each other, but closure came on 31 March 1961. View looks in the Cork direction in 2020.
