Oslo Sentral

An SL79 Oslo tram negotiates a triangular junction to pass through the green square outside Oslo Sentral station on 9th May 2022. All three sides of this triangle are in present use but a further line, which possibly went to the harbour area, is still partly visible but now closed. [Update: Malcolm Peakman advises that the abandoned route is actually the former route of the tram depicted, it was a 'Chinese Railway' involving single line working along narrow and one way streets. Presumably the traffic planners decided that reducing the streets carrying capacity was the right way to go.] The six-axle articulated trams can only operate in one direction and are coming towards the end of their operational service as modern replacements are introduced.
