Carlisle
Black 5 45259 ready to shunt some parcels vans at Carlisle, in December 1967. Looking at the photo some 55 years later, it initially seemed puzzling to see the 'Peak' across the platform taking water, with one of the crew clambering about on the roof. But no doubt the water supply for the steam heating boiler needed topping up before the journey south on the Settle & Carlisle.
