Cranley Gardens

The surviving parapets of Muswell Hill Road bridge over the formation of the Alexandra Palace branch, looking north towards Muswell Hill Broadway, on 12th February 2019. Cranley Gardens station was in the cutting on the left; it opened in 1902 on this 1873 line to serve new residential homes on the southern flank of this Alpine-like north London suburb. The line closed to passengers in 1954 after almost becoming part of the Northern Line and, if it hadn't been for WWII, passengers would now be travelling along here in crowded tube trains without a second's thought.
