Rannoch
'Lighthousemen of the land' is a particularly evocative phrase John Thomas used in his West Highland Railway book to describe the signalmen working in the isolated signal boxes of Rannoch Moor. The distant welcoming light is Rannoch station as seen from above the north side of Loch Laidon at the end of the dirt road out from the station.
