Drysdale Street Tunnel

The route of the Alloa Waggonway. Photographed in July 2008, looking north east towards the point where it passed below Mar Street and Drysdale Street. At the top right of the picture the impressive Franco - Gothic clock tower of Alloa Sheriff Court looks out over the town. The building was officially opened in 1865, approximately 100 years after the first Clackmannanshire coal passed by on the waggonway heading south to be loaded onto ships in Alloa Harbour.
