Laisterdyke

Class 08 0-6-0 diesel shunter 08226 is seen hauling a consist of structural steel, and 16T open wagons, as it crosses Bowling Back Lane bridge whilst working along the Bradford avoiding line en route from Healey Mills Yard to Laisterdyke Yard in 1981. The steel would be for Barratt Steel stockholders who were located on the then remaining short stub of the former line from Laisterdyke Yard to Ardsley via Drighlington and Morley. The working would have possibly travelled over the Spen Valley line via Heckmondwike and Low Moor. Immediately to left of where I am standing is the site of the former 56G Hammerton Street engine shed, latterly a DMU depot.
