Ordsall Chord
View from UK Railtours' excursion from Euston to Leeds City on the Ordsall Chord, a.k.a. the Castlefield Curve, looking east as it crosses the River Irwell, on 12th February 2022. This curve was first mooted as far back as 1979 but was cancelled and it was not until 2010 that the scheme was revived with construction beginning in 2016 and it opened on 10th December 2017. This handsome bowstring bridge was designed by Peter Jenkins, Architect Director and Head of Transport Manchester.
