Dunbar

A3 60045 'Lemberg' is paused at Dunbar station, whilst hauling an evening train to the South, in early August 1955. What followed next was an exhibition of slipping lasting some fifteen minutes as the loco attempted to get its heavy train moving on the adverse gradient and curve. Success was finally achieved by reversing halfway down the platform to where the track was more level. The noise and smoke effects were quite spectacular!
