Cromore Halt

The remains of Cromore Halt, formerly Portstewart station, on the Coleraine to Portrush branch. It had closed in 1963 as Portstewart and re-opened as Cromore Halt in 1969 when the branch was revitalised as a result of the new university campus near Coleraine. It closed again in 1988, this time permanently as the platform has been removed although one redundant modern lighting column remains as a reminder of its temporary reincarnation. Some distance from the town it purported to serve, the Portstewart Tramway provided a direct connection to the town until 1926. Photograph taken from the level crossing on 9th August 2019.
