Kinghorn Candle Works

In 1881 the Burntisland Oil Company took on the ailing Binnend Oilworks and set about building a private railway to Kinghorn Goods Yard. The line opened in 1887 but lasted less than twenty years as the business failed. About half way along the route was a candle works, served by a siding bounded by the loading bank on the centre left. The connection to Kinghorn veered to the right at an average gradient of 1 in 50. After serving as a leather enamelling works the site has since been cleared and replaced by housing.
