Dumfries Shed

Looking north towards Dumfries station on the other side of St Marys Street bridge in May 2002. The area on this side of the bridge, now the headquarters of Dumfries and Galloway police, was previously occupied by Dumfries locomotive shed. The shed was officially closed in May 1966, with demolition taking place in the early 1980s. The only remnant of the old shed is the base of the west wall running alongside the up line. For the same view in 1971 see image 6308.
