Port of Menteith

The former Port of Menteith station on the Forth and Clyde Junction Railway, seen in October 2007. (The village itself is approximately three and a half miles to the north of here, standing on the eastern shore of the Lake of Menteith.) View is south west over the site of the level crossing with the platforms on the other side of the fence and the trackbed continuing on towards the site of Buchlyvie Junction. Port of Menteith station closed to passengers in 1934, although the line east between here and Stirling survived until 1959.
