Harringay

313059 arriving at Harringay, with a service to Moorgate, on 18th April 2019. This section of the GNR main line opened on 7th August 1850 but Harringay was not opened until 1st May 1885. It was renamed Harringay West on 18th June 1951 but reverted to simply Harringay on 27th May 1971. The original Victorian ticket office on a footbridge linking both sides of the line at this point was destroyed by fire in the 1960s and replaced by a rudimentary timber hut which still stands today (see my photo image no. 76093). 2019 was the last year of the 313 units on these GNR London suburban services, replaced after 43 years by the new 717 units, much criticised for their 'ironing board' seats, in the September of that year.
