Abbey Wood

376024 at the rear of a South Eastern service to Sidcup departing from Abbey Wood in south-east London, on 15th July 2021. On the left, behind the fence that infuriatingly obscures the view, is the as yet unopened Crossrail terminus. Abbey Wood was originally opened on 30th July 1849 by the North Kent Railway and completely rebuilt and enlarged to cater for Crossrail in the second decade of the 21st Century. In anticipation of the opening of Crossrail in December 2018, the rebuilt National Rail station opened on 23rd October 2017 but there is still no firm date as to when the first Crossrail trains will operate.
