East Ham

The fine LU station at East Ham, looking east towards Barking and Upminster, on 15th July 2021. Originally opened by the LTSR in 1858, BR Southend line trains ceased to call in 1962. The platform on the right was an island with the down Southend line which is now behind the hoarding but the up Southend platform was further apart and separated by a wall. Both are now derelict but passed through every day by fast trains to and from Fenchurch Street. There was also a bay platform on the down side of the LU platform that closed in 1958; until that year, steam trains from St. Pancras via what is now the GOBLIN line ran alternatively to Barking or East Ham, reaching the latter by a spur from Woodgrange Park, now removed.
