Sheriffhall City Bypass Overbridge

Work in progress on the bridge that would carry the Edinburgh City Bypass over the Borders Railway, seen here looking north on 22 February 2014. At this stage construction of the 'concrete box' is essentially complete, with infilling of the breach underway on both sides. Meantime road traffic continues to run past the works site on the temporary diversion route just beyond. The first tracklaying train passed below the bridge in October that year, with ScotRail crew training trips getting underway in June 2015. The first fare paying passenger services commenced 3 months later (see image 52489)..
